Support

Help we offer

When we want to change things for a child, often the best place to provide support is to the parents. Parenting comes without a manual, which can make the journey testing, isolating and uncertain for parents as well as children.

We believe all children, teenagers and parents should have access to psychological support as part of their everyday lives. Psychological therapeutic approaches are most powerful when the child's circle is empowered to create positive changes in their environment that nurture their wellbeing.

We offer accessible and inclusive support that is tailored to each child and family circle, based on existing concerns, the response needed and the goals for change. Our approach uses various psychological ideas that help us understand the areas of concern and develop a structured plan based on the input from all involved.

We want to foster knowledge, skills and understanding in parents and children alike,  to empower them to work through difficulties together.

How we help

At Full Circle a qualified psychologist is assigned to every child and family that joins our service. They will run a thorough assessment with you and your child and guide you through the process. We carefully look through the information we gather from the assessment and use it to suggest ways that we can provide support.

We currently offer four support packages. Each package is structured around providing clear and specific information for parents to enable them to support their child(ren), as well as regular accessible check-ins with parents, and the child, where needed. Through regular check-ins and monitoring, the level of direct intervention with a parent and/or child can be stepped up or down, depending on the need.

1. Helping Hands

Oftentimes, parents want access to professional support and guidance. Someone who knows their situation and is available to check-in, answer questions and provide ongoing advice. There is probably no single specific area of concern with your child, just more of a desire to ensure your ideas and parenting approach are in line with current research and developments in the field of psychology and child development. The focus of this package is to work indirectly with the child through the parents, to create optimal therapeutic environments.

2. Early Signs

When we start to notice that something doesn't seem right with our child, it is usually the best time to get additional advice and support. This package is designed for parents who have a specific concern about their child's emotional and psychological wellbeing, and want to get help to address it. The Early Signs package contains all the support in our Helping Hands package, together with, additional support from your assigned Psychologist, in the form of more frequent check-ins. This is because we know that investing more time early on to address a problem can stop things from getting worse and set parents and children on the right course for success. The focus of this package is to work indirectly with parents, to provide skills and techniques to address concerns and support the child.

3. Nurture

Childhood difficulties can develop into more pronounced problems and the Nurture package is specifically designed to provide more intensive input. As part of Nurture, your assigned Psychologist will work with parents, as well as carry out direct work with your child. All the resources for Helping Hands are available, but there is greater emphasis on direct therapy for the child and work with the parents, to address concerns, promote change and recovery and reduce the chances of the problem recurring in the future. This package focuses on work both with parents and the child.

4. Individual Psychological Therapy

All our interventions are carefully tailored to our clients, because we recognise that individuality is a fundamental factor in any intervention. So for clients who we believe will benefit the most from direct psychological therapy, we offer individual sessions. We still work in a very holistic way, and will keep parents involved, as we believe this is the only way to see real change and sustained results.

A note from us:

Our primary focus is on working with parents to share psychological knowledge which in turn has a direct influence on the child, we provide direct intervention with the child only when this is necessary.

Our first two packages Helping Hands and Early Signs are designed as support for parents, where the psychologist has an indirect influence on the child through the parents and family.

Our Nurture and Individual Psychological Therapy packages will involve direct contact between our psychologist and the child in varying degrees, based on the level of concern and support required.
